Chai

Chai simply means 'Tea' in Hindi. It is a common drink in India available on street corners, in offices and at home. The tea leaf used is a basic, cut-tear-curl (CTC) grade, where the leaf has little moisture and is conducive to boiling.

The leaf is often blended with common Indian spices such as cardamom, cinnamon and ginger and boiled with milk and sugar. More important than the specific tea leaves or spices is the patience and ritual of making fresh, boiled Chai -
avoiding liquid concentrates, powders and instant tea. The daily afternoon 'Chai break', as practiced in Indian workplaces, temples, homes and streets, is a rich experience for any tea lover.

The popularity of Chai in the United States over the last few years has led to a variety of styles ranging from more traditional CTC and spice blends to new combinations with herbs and spices from other regions. We invite you to try our unique blends and brew your own fresh Chai!
